Peregrine is in need of more information! Peregrine is lacking more detail in the History. We know more from the 2013 edition of Tales of Deltora, as well as some information from The Third Door. For example, know of the Fellan's plan to abolish the action of electing chieftains, which Perry's family was a victim of.
Chieftain Peregrine, nicknamed Perry by his people, was once a ruler of the island of Dorne. He is the father of Malverlain, better known as the Shadow Lord, Chieftain Annoltis and Eldannen. He was married to the Fellan woman Alenan, who was the mother of the three before-mentioned brothers. Perry is the son of the Deltoran woman Rosalyn and an unnamed half-Fellan man.[1][2]
Born in hiding from his Deltoran grandfather Garth near the Fell Zone on Dorne, Peregrine was only an infant when Garth found and took him from Rosalyn a moment after his crew had killed the father. Garth cruelly ordered the execution of the young Peregrine, but a half-Fellan woman with one green eye and one brown one claimed the young boy. She knew a childless couple of rich boatbuilders who would pay "a king's ransom" for the child. The boatbuilder couple travelled inland, where they met with the half-Fellan woman and made the trade, and upon returning to town, told their neighbours that Peregrine had been born while they were away.
Once Peregrine was old enough, his adoptive parents told him the same false story about his birth. Peregrine always thought the story was a great joke and did not take it serious. When his parents passed away, Peregrine inherited the family boatbuilding business.
Physical appearance[]
Peregrine was described as having black hair and dark, lively eyes. He had dark skin like his mother. He looked very little like either of his adoptive parents. Once he became chieftain, his beard was almost grey but he was still "a hale and fine-looking man".[2]
