Thank you very much! I've always liked the Deltora series because of its lore and orignial history. Its nice to be around people who also like the series as wel,l considering alot of my mates in real life haven't read the books. I've really only done small edits recently, but hopefully I'll be able to do some larger edits soon.
Great to hear that you like this community! You have made good contributions to the wiki and participated in communitiy discussions. For that matter, it is amazing that you have become a part of this wiki. Of course sometimes life gets busy and you will have to divide your attention. We all understand that! Good luck with the things you have to do!
Btw, if you would like to occasionally chat with the members of this community, you could join the discord server (see homepage of the wiki). It is a small effort to join and you can choose when you want to be online and talk to people. Do not feel obligated though, you have done quite a few things already for the wiki! So, if you wish to completely focus on other matters then that is alright!.
Hi Dugald, that's perfectly fine mate, everyone gets busy sometimes. I hope to see you again soon as you make some quality edits. And do join the Discord as it's less time consuming yet you can still talk to all of us.
At the moment I'm in boarding and they are in the process of unblocking everything (including discord) on the college wifi after hours. But I'll definitly stop by every now and again to see how you people are and how the wiki is progressing.
Hello Dugald. I have looked everywhere for the map of the Pirran caverns. Where did you find it? Was it finally uploaded somewhere? (maybe on Tumblr?) I have the map, but it's on a bad quality photo of a larger Deltora map, in the corner of it.
I bought the map on Trademe (A New Zealand website). The map had a large picture of Deltora (Like how it appeared in Tales of Deltora) and a little picture of the Pirran Islands in the corner. Sorry, this is the map you have isn't it? I just thought seeing as though no one had uploaded the picture to the wiki, that it hadn't been found.
I red through some of the old comments on the wiki about the limited edition trading cards. When I saw this I wanted to try find them. So when I was looking through Trademe, I found the map hoping the cards would be there as well. Unfortunatly they wern't. I got a shock when I saw the Pirran Island map in the corner of the Deltora map.
I'm just messaging you to show you how to add references. It can be tricky, it is the one thing I had trouble with when I first started editing. I fixed your reference of the Golden Door on the Weld page.
First, you must be using source mode when editing, you can change this by clicking on the 3 line button near cancel when editing and then scroll down to source mode. You then want to place the reference directly after the information at the end of a paragraph usually.
Thank you for that! I was meaning to find out how, so cheers for that. Next time when I have another opportunity I'll try the source mode. Also that paragrpah I wrote, did it sound acurrate (The one about the volunteers)?
I have added the image you suggested for the raladin page, very good idea by the way! I'm just messaging you now to show you how to add/use images and then add them to infoboxes.
First, unless the image has already been uploaded by someone else, you need to add the image to the wiki. This is fairly simple. You need to have the image saved on your computer. When editing, just below where you can change the text size (Heading/paragraph, etc...) you will see a button that should say when highlighted - Image. Here you can upload a new image, or search an existing one. If you upload a new one, make sure you get the copyright statement right (for instance the Raladin one I just uploaded is from the anime, so you would need to put it under the fair use anime statement). Thats all you need to do to upload/add an image to a page.
To add an image to an infobox, you need to be in editing mode, then click on the infobox and a popup should come up (for example the raladin page would say 'location infobox'), click on this and you will see multiple things you can type into the infobox, such as colour, image, residents, etc... Click on image and you would need to type in ((File:random.png|250px)). You will need to use this type of bracket [[ ]] for the link (I can't use them here as it tries to add images so I just used normal brackets). 250px is the size this wiki uses for images in infoboxes, 'random' is the files name, this changes obviously with whatever image you use, so make sure when you upload an image you remember what you saved it as, png is the file type, be careful as sometimes an image can be uploaded as a jpeg or something different, I use paint to screenshot and snip images and it saves as png which is much easier. Make sure to preview before saving your edit, just to make sure you have done it right.
This seems like a lot so I hope I haven't confused you. Everything is just trial and error, remember if you muck it up, it can always be fixed, and there will always be someone to help you out. Soon it may be second nature to you. Have fun adding images.
Thank you very much for this! I just have a couple of questions. When adding images to articles where would I state the copyright statment and how would I know what it is (are they all fair use)? Also when adding an image on an infobox, do I need to state the fair use anywhere?
No problem. The copyright statement will come up when you add the image you cant miss it. You don't have to type it in, you just have to scroll and find the right one. There are statements for the anime, books, etc.. Most pictures from the books have already been uploaded to this wiki so I usually just upload from the anime. No you don't need to state fair use when adding an image to an infobox, as you would have already done it when you added the image.
See if you can find a page that needs a picture for the infobox and have a go, let me know how you go or if you need help. Remember you can use existing images.
I was just reading your plot for Tom's Curious Shop and you have done a great job on the article so far. You have written a really elaborate summary for the episode. Good job man. There is just one thing that I want to point out to you. You added the links but inserted those links as external links. When writing an article you generally want to insert links as internal links. This means that in visual editor you select the text you want to link and click on the anchor icon in top menu. From there is mostly self-explanatory as you can select the right article to link to in a pop-up menu.
I hope you understand adding links now, if not let me know then I will try to explain it differently. For the page about "Tom's Curious Shop", I have already fixed some of the links and will fix the rest soon.
I saw you tried to change some of the links but most of them are still external links. If you still do not understand how to change them then let me know! It might seem difficult at first but I am sure you will get it :)
Btw here is a picture with the icon that is used to add links in the visual editor!
I fixed the links for you. The trick is to just click on the word you want linked (by pressing the link button Creative Dream showed you above in the picture and then click on the word that matches, if no word matches then you will have to type it in again or or it may be worded differently. Just message Dream or myself if you have more issues.
By the way nice editing. I've only been here for a few months so I remember when I was learning all the ways in which you can edit. Just be persistent and if you get stuck, just trial and error. Dream helped me out a lot when I started editing, I was having trouble with references.
Thank you very much for this. I don't know whether I should be doing sumaries like these in the first place. I did the one on the episode before Tom's Shop and I don't think anyone was impressed with my grammer or phrasing.
However, thanks again for that help, Archer of Az-Zure.
