    • Thank you very much! I've always liked the Deltora series because of its lore and orignial history. Its nice to be around people who also like the series as wel,l considering alot of my mates in real life haven't read the books. I've really only done small edits recently, but hopefully I'll be able to do some larger edits soon.

      Cheers again Archer,

      Dugald.

  • Hey Dugald,

I see you have changed your name, it is nice, new name! Great job on getting the images of the gems from Secrets. I had started with scanning those but I have been so busy.

  • G'day to anyone reading this,

I've reached a busy time of the year and will need to take a break from this wiki. You'll probably notice I've been in-active for a while already. I just thought I should tell you why.

I'm not too sure when I'll be back, but I just wanted to say thanks. Even though this is a reasonably small community it is still a nice environment for me to come to.

    Cheers,

    Dugald.

  • The picture of the Sea Serpent showed up for me no problem before :) Weird. I just reverted your edit so it's there again.

  • Hello Dugald. I have looked everywhere for the map of the Pirran caverns. Where did you find it? Was it finally uploaded somewhere? (maybe on Tumblr?) I have the map, but it's on a bad quality photo of a larger Deltora map, in the corner of it.

    • G'day,

I bought the map on Trademe (A New Zealand website). The map had a large picture of Deltora (Like how it appeared in Tales of Deltora) and a little picture of the Pirran Islands in the corner. Sorry, this is the map you have isn't it? I just thought seeing as though no one had uploaded the picture to the wiki, that it hadn't been found.

I red through some of the old comments on the wiki about the limited edition trading cards. When I saw this I wanted to try find them. So when I was looking through Trademe, I found the map hoping the cards would be there as well. Unfortunatly they wern't. I got a shock when I saw the Pirran Island map in the corner of the Deltora map.

Sorry if this has been a disappointment,

      Dugald.

  • Hi Dugald,

I'm just messaging you to show you how to add references. It can be tricky, it is the one thing I had trouble with when I first started editing. I fixed your reference of the Golden Door on the Weld page.

    http://deltoraquest.wikia.com/wiki/Deltora_Quest_Wiki:Manual_of_Style#Adding_references

This can help you add references.

First, you must be using source mode when editing, you can change this by clicking on the 3 line button near cancel when editing and then scroll down to source mode. You then want to place the reference directly after the information at the end of a paragraph usually.

    Kind Regards,

    Archer of Az-Zure

  • Hi Dugald,

I have added the image you suggested for the raladin page, very good idea by the way! I'm just messaging you now to show you how to add/use images and then add them to infoboxes.

First, unless the image has already been uploaded by someone else, you need to add the image to the wiki. This is fairly simple. You need to have the image saved on your computer. When editing, just below where you can change the text size (Heading/paragraph, etc...) you will see a button that should say when highlighted - Image. Here you can upload a new image, or search an existing one. If you upload a new one, make sure you get the copyright statement right (for instance the Raladin one I just uploaded is from the anime, so you would need to put it under the fair use anime statement). Thats all you need to do to upload/add an image to a page.

To add an image to an infobox, you need to be in editing mode, then click on the infobox and a popup should come up (for example the raladin page would say 'location infobox'), click on this and you will see multiple things you can type into the infobox, such as colour, image, residents, etc... Click on image and you would need to type in ((File:random.png|250px)). You will need to use this type of bracket [[ ]] for the link (I can't use them here as it tries to add images so I just used normal brackets). 250px is the size this wiki uses for images in infoboxes, 'random' is the files name, this changes obviously with whatever image you use, so make sure when you upload an image you remember what you saved it as, png is the file type, be careful as sometimes an image can be uploaded as a jpeg or something different, I use paint to screenshot and snip images and it saves as png which is much easier. Make sure to preview before saving your edit, just to make sure you have done it right.

This seems like a lot so I hope I haven't confused you. Everything is just trial and error, remember if you muck it up, it can always be fixed, and there will always be someone to help you out. Soon it may be second nature to you. Have fun adding images.

    Kind Regards,

    Archer of Az-Zure (Jacob)

  • Hey Dugald,

I was just reading your plot for Tom's Curious Shop and you have done a great job on the article so far. You have written a really elaborate summary for the episode. Good job man. There is just one thing that I want to point out to you. You added the links but inserted those links as external links. When writing an article you generally want to insert links as internal links. This means that in visual editor you select the text you want to link and click on the anchor icon in top menu. From there is mostly self-explanatory as you can select the right article to link to in a pop-up menu.

You can also go in source-editor and put double square brackets around a word. For example Lief, will contain a link to the page of 'Lief'. There is a catch when using this method because some words are ambiguous e.g. 'The Forests of Silence'. On the wiki there is a page for the book 'The Forests of Silence' and the location. So if you simply put The Forests of Silence then it is going to contain a link to the article about the location, if I am not mistaking. If you want to link to the book you will have to put The Forests of Silence. The first part ("")) of that link refers to the page it is going to link to article while the second part (("The Forest sof Silence") is the actual text that appears on screen in the article you are editing. This only works in source-editor though!

I hope you understand adding links now, if not let me know then I will try to explain it differently. For the page about "Tom's Curious Shop", I have already fixed some of the links and will fix the rest soon.

    Greetings,

    Creative Dream
