Margareth grew up in Del harbour as a child; however, in the face of the scandal of Dare's betrayal she, her mother and her sister were forced into hiding, moving to the centre of Del, where her mother set up a shop around the corner from Piper's Lane and Dame Dalmar's school.
Shadows of the Master
Margareth came into the family shop through the back door after seeing to her and Britta's ill mother, to replace Britta. She appeared kind, gentle and concerned when Britta announced that she was going to see Larsett's old friend Captain Gripp, for their mother had forbidden them to go to the harbour.
When Britta revealed that she was going to be setting sail on the Star of Deltora as a finalist for the Rosalyn apprenticeship, Maarie spurned her, but Margareth did not. She ran after Britta, out onto the street when her sister took her leave, and tried to defend Maarie's actions without success. She gave Britta an embroidered pouch of money that she had made herself, and which was supposed to have been a birthday present, and then hugged Britta and begged her to come home safely.
Margareth has a very gentle and timid personality. She is very generous and kind, seen when she does not reject Britta as their mother has done, and instead chooses to support and help her. She is also very empathetic—she seems to understand Maarie's mental state and her cruel words to Britta, and does not judge her for it as Britta does.
She is often said to be like her mother, Maarie, in temperament.
Not much is known about Margareth's abilities, but as she works in a shop it can be said that she is reasonably capable at the business of running a shop.
Margareth cares deeply for Britta, and often worries for her as Maarie does. She, unlike Maarie, is willing to support Britta and help her achieve her dream of becoming a trader.
