Location

Keras is one of four islands located in the Pirran Caverns and lies in the Emerald sea. It was settled by the Pirrans who followed Keras the Unknown.[1]

The Emerald sea was linked with the other Pirran islands by a single narrow tunnel, the Forbidden Way, which was populated by winged leeches and left unlit by the magic of the Pirrans on either side of it to dissuade crossing through, until the reuniting of the Pirran Pipe during King Lief's reign. In the opposite direction, to the north, was a dark sea, directly below the Shadowlands.

Keras was forested by tall mushroom trees, the wood of which was used by the Kerons to construct houses. Their homes often had small fish pools in back gardens. In the center of the island was a gathering place, a campfire that had first been lit by Doran the Dragonlover and kept burning ever since.

History[]

Alyss, an individual from ancient times who was memorialized as "The Girl with the Golden Hair" in one of the Tenna Birdsong Tales, found her way into the Pirran Caverns with her lover Rosnan in ages past. She settled in Keras and her children interbred with the population. For this reason, many present-day Kerons have Deltoran ancestry, and some grow blond hair from their heads.
