Gers is one of the last remaining Jalis warriors and the younger brother of Glock. When the Shadow Lord invaded Deltora, Gers was captured and taken to the Shadowlands. He was the second person to escape from the Shadow Arena and wandered the Shadowlands. He agreed to join the Resistance and became a lieutenant in their Shadowlands division.[1]
History
When the Shadow Lord invaded Deltora, the Jalis tribe fought to defend their territory. Gers was among the few who survived the invasion and was brought back to the Shadowlands. He became the second person to escape the Shadow Arena, and was found by Claw wandering the wastes of the Shadowlands. Gers agreed to join the Resistance, and became one of its most valuable members.[1]
The Shadowlands
Gers and Claw captured Lief, Barda, and Jasmine shortly after they arrived in the Shadowlands. After hearing them out, Gers was not truly convinced with their story, and doubted that they could save the Deltoran prisoners. His opinion changed when Jasmine showed him Glock's talisman, and repeated his last words. She gave the talisman to Gers, and he vowed to help them.
Gers and Claw freed the prisoners at the Shadow Arena, where he led the Jalis prisoners personally. He was rescued by the Pirran tribes and brought back to Deltora with the other Deltorans.[1]
The Sister of the South
Gers came to Del during the outbreak of the Toran Plague. When Lief suspected the plague to be poison, Gers was tasked with making beds to hold the sick. He travelled to the Hiran plain when the grey tide was unleashed, and witnessed the first Dragon Night. Afterwards, he flew back to Del on one of the dragons. He was so thankful to be back on the ground that he kissed it.
At Lief and Jasmine's wedding, Gers led a battalion of Jalis knights in salute.[2]
Physical appearance
Gers was described as a spitting image of his older brother, Glock.[1]
Personality
Gers is a subdued and cautious individual. However, he still possesses a Jalis' sence of honour and duty. He also has a strong pride, as he swore till his dying day that he stumbled off the dragon's neck instead of kissing the ground.
