Deltora Quest Journal is a book and a piece of Deltora Quest merchandise. The book is a blank diary meant to be filled out by the owner.[1]

Book description[]

"Each year is a new quest. Record the thrilling details of your personal quest: Challenges faced. Monsters overcome. Treasures won. Heroic deeds. New friends made."[1]

The diary begins with a foreword written by Emily Rodda, in which she talks about how Lief, Barda and Jasmine, despite sharing many of the same experiences, would have described those events differently in text and written about unique things. She comments that Lief would have written about his hopes, fears, doubts, that Barda would have written practical things, such as news and the numbers of Grey Guards they had sighted, and that Jasmine would have written less than both of them, preferring to describe the surroundings, the wildlife and strange plants they encountered. Rodda also talks about how, when she was young, she wished she had a life that was more exciting, and she began to write journals and then added exciting elements and changed it into stories. She talks about how she will write down all possible solutions for a puzzle in her story, from the craziest to the simplest solutions, and then remove the crazier and choose one from the simple solutions. Rodda also gives ideas on how to write one's own personal story, and talks about how your own journal is unique. Rodda ends the foreword with an encouragement for the reader to write.

The diary is divided into twelve months of the year: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. At the beginning of each month is a different black-and-white illustration drawn by Marc McBride.[1]
